The Story of Pumpkinhead
There was this boy named Billy who was playing with friends in a wild pumpkin patch on the outskirts of town. The adults always told the kids to avoid that area but the children saw it as a wild jungle with its sprawling vines and pumpkins of all sizes. The kids started with their usual routine with a game of tag. Eventually it was Billy’s turn to be it and he ran as fast as he could to catch someone. All of a sudden, there was a loud thud and the kids looked back to see Billy had tripped head first into a large pumpkin. At first everyone laughed at Billy’s predicament only to see he couldn't get the pumpkin off his head. They tried to help Billy remove the pumpkin but every time they pulled at the Pumpkin it sank further down his head. Eventually the kids decided this was a problem for the adults and took Billy back to his parents.
All Billy's mother could do was scream when she saw the pumpkin in fact could not be removed. Every time Billy's dad tried to pull the pumpkin off Billy’s head, Billy would scream, “Stop it hurts!”. That day was the last time the kids saw Billy when the sun was out. In fact the adults told the children never to speak of Billy or play with him. This was because after that day, Billy only ever came out at night. He stood outside all the children's windows asking them if they wanted to play at the wild pumpkin patch. No one ever dared go with him though, even though sometimes the voice that came out of the decaying, molding pumpkin sounded like Billy. Other times Billy’s voice was accompanied by an older and more sinister voice. However, the kids do still speak of Billy just never by his given name.
Now he is Pumpkinhead, the killer pumpkin!
